What first came to your mind?

My daughter and I often play a game of questions and answers some nights back. You know how it is, I ask her a question, she answers and then asks hers or serves me my question back. We talk about a lot on nights like these; friends, happy moments, regrets, future plans, dreams, God's plan for our lives and arguments.

So on Monday night, reading from a card I asked her "What first came to your mind when you first saw me?" I just wanted to go and sleep.
"That's a really weird question" she made a an equally weird face to show how deep her thoughts were. "I don't remember ever not knowing you, but my earliest memory of you was hearing sing to me from my sleep and I didn’t think much but I felt loved and I felt love. What did you think when you first saw me?"

"Joella, I'm sleepy and it's a really long story". I tried to dismiss her with a wave, as I made to get to bed.
"Well, say it in three sentences. I'm all ears" she said sporting a puppy face.

"ok, the first time I saw you, I said to myself "who is this? Look at this girl, I'm going to love her forever" Letting out a deep sigh, I continued. "I still remember it like yesterday".

"Dad are your crying?"

"What? No! I'm just sleepy" I said as I hurried to bed.

God's grace, subway surfers: what's the connection?

I was in church yesterday for Bible study and it was so awesome I had to share. We studied God's grace which in Greek is Charis. Let me digress. I am a big fan of the game subway surfers and I have a score of about 255k to show for the countless hours I have put into the game. When I first launched the game a friend told me his highest score was about 80k, he further told me that he'd seen folks with scores in millions. My ultimate goal then became having a score of at least 300k. It seemed like a tall order. However with time I realised that there were boosts (like surfboards, score boosters, magnets and power ups) and aids to help me achieve my goal. It's Alright Now

I saw a damsel walking by I smiled and said hello She sneered and gave me nasty look And then walked away But its alright now I guess my lesson's learnt Not every girl wants to be friends Not every story happily ends I saw a fine girl walking by She smiled and I said hi We spent the evening writing poems Singing as we went So am alright now I guess my lesson's learnt As there are red and blue flames Not every girl is the same I've seen the heights of life I've also seen the other side Be nice to everyone you meet Be nice to the cat on the street But it's alright now I guess my lesson's learnt Not everything is as it seems Not everything is as we see I wrote a poem late last night Because I couldn't sleep I worried if it made any sense Or if it was just dense But it's alright now I guess my lesson's learnt You can't please everyone I write to be at peace with myself
